Light of the Moon Watercolor by Vermont Painter Cathy Stevens Pratt

I love these colors. Just the thought of the warm moon at the time of the year when lovely birds are around makes me happy. This little piece is all about friends.

Leopard Mama painting by Vermonter Cathy Stevens Pratt

This little gem had a very specific purpose. A friend asked to trade art with me. She gave me details that she wanted me to do in her little painting and this is what she got. I am always happy to trade art. I love to make the art and I love to receive the art. May you find and have that thing that you DO every single day that you LOVE.

Lazy Maisy watercolor & ink art by Vermont Painter Cathy Stevens Pratt

My little boy loves Dr. Seuss, who doesn't, right? In my humble opinion, the Seuss story about Lazy Maisy is one of the best written stories he did. That poem is genius, it flows, it is perfection, seriously musical perfection. I thought I would do my version of Maisy that lazy mama bird off on her vacation. Thanks for being such an upstanding elephant Horton, you're the best.

Peace Laundry watercolor by Vermont painter who doesn't mind laundry Cathy Stevens Pratt

More art about laundry? Yes! I do so much laundry, don't you? I figure, daily life inspires art right? So, why not glorify one of my most mundane tasks. Voila, here you go.

Laundry Line watercolor by Vermonter who doesn't mind laundry Cathy Stevens Pratt

Well, I sort of do mind laundry but only when it gets in the way of my art making time. I am a full time mama homeschooling my 6 year old son, and I also work at least full time. Some of my friends hate laundry, it piles high, gets stinky and is like punishment for the worst of domestic crimes. I think the satisfaction of the clean clothes at the end are enough to keep me going. I've also traveled enough and had to do laundry in my sink and bath tub, that laundry in my warm house on my pretty mountain in my front loader energy-efficient washing machine has me more grateful than resentful. Each time I load that washer I thank my lucky stars I'm not rubbing my undies on a rock in some muddy river.

KLIMT Master study Cat's Magic watercolor by Vermonter Cathy Stevens Pratt

And another Klimt study for you. Oh I do enjoy Klimt. His little circles, curly-q's and patterning help me to get lost in his art. I can go into my imagination thru those patterns. Look at the grace of this tree, who wouldn't get lost at least a bit? Enjoy.
